GIS MAPPING TOOL AVAILABLE NOW
The GIS (Geographic Information System) Mapping tool is now ready for City employees, Municipal Services employees and Planning Commissioners to use. This tool is expected to improve their ability to service citizens with information. It shows all power lines, zoning for each tax parcel, and other relevant information for property in the City. As reported earlier, this work was sponsored by the MSC. AUDIT NEAR COMPLETION

W. 4th STREET SENIOR CENTER PARKING
Council recently voted to provide a time restricted parking spot on W. 4th Street for the New Castle Senior Center bus. A temporary sign was posted until the permanent sign arrives. The permanent sign will show the times during the day hours that parking will be reserved for the bus. E-GOVERNMENT DISCUSSIONS BEGIN
Council President, Chris Castagno met with representatives from the Department of Public Policy at the University of Delaware to discuss ways for improving the interactivity of the City web site. The goal is to provide more convenience to citizens in dealing with the City Government through the Internet. The UD Department will evaluate our current web site, at no charge, and make suggestions as the initial step. WINTERTHUR CATALOG MOVES TO THE CITY
The Winterthur Museum will locate its fulfillment center to the Twin Spans Commercial Park on Route 9 in the Summer 2002. The Center will provide customer service, and fulfillment for all Internet, mail and phone orders for the Museum's catalog division. This is the first of many developments to report about the development of this site. This was a team effort and special thanks go to Planning Commissioners Beth Matkins and Stan Sykora, Council President Chris Castagno, the Immanual Church, Trustees of New Castle Commons and City resident and DEDO Director, John Wik. This move will benefit the City with employment opportunities, tax revenues, and power and water revenues for the MSC. Please call the Planning Commission or your Council President with questions.
NEW WASHINGTON STREET SIDEWALKS
State Senator Dori Connor recently reported the DELDOT plans to add sidewalks to Washington Street and 7th Street. The sidewalks will be added from the corner of Frenchtown Road, turning left on 7th Street to South Street. GREENWAYS MEETING HELD
Representatives from the City of Wilmington, DE Transit, DE State Parks, Wilmington River Development Corp., DE Greenways, and the City of New Castle met last week to discuss specific details to move this project forward. In attendance from the City were City Administrator, Bob Martin, City resident, Dave June, and Council President, Chris Castagno. City resident and DE Greenways Director, Tim Plemmons chaired the meeting to link New Castle to the Wilmington River Front via rail-trails. More information is forth coming. PLANNER HIRED
The Ad Hoc committee, chaired by Stan Sykora, recommended the hiring of Kise, Straw and Kolodner of Philadelphia to Council recently. The Ad Hoc committee comprised of members of Council, Mayor, Trustees, Planning Commission, Visitors Bureau, Tree Commission, HAC, MSC, City Administrator and City Solicitor. Council confirmed the appointment and the firm will begin its work in the coming weeks. The goal of this investment is to update the Comprehensive Plan or our City, and modify outdated codes. BUTTONWOOD AVE & SIDEWALKS DONE
Sidewalks, curbing and paving have been completed on the back portion of the Buttonwood Avenue and it looks great.
