PLANNING COMMISSION
Mayor & Council of New Castle/220 Delaware Street/New Castle, Delaware 19720-4816 Minutes of the meeting of the New Castle City Planning commission held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 28, 2002 at the Town Hall, 2nd floor. Members Present: Chairman Stan Sykora Mr. Henry Herndon Mr. James Steele Mr. Virgil Irick - Absent Ms. Beth Matkins Ms. Jane Miller Mr. Clay Bridgewater Mr. Charles Cobb Mr. William Cramer Others Present: Mr. Joseph DiAngelo Mr. David June Mr. Indellini Mr. George Freebery Ms. Mary Robinson Chairman Sykora called the meeting to order and the roll was called. 1. Review of zoning classification of Soda Town and Dempsey properties. 2. Update of Planning Consultant project. REVIEW OF ZONING CLASSIFICATION OF SODA TOWN AND DEMPSEY PROPERTY Mr. Sykora read a letter from Mr. Kavanaugh (attached) to the Planning Commission recommending rezoning the Soda Town and Dempsey properties from Retail Commercial to Service Commercial. Mr. Herndon and several other members voiced their opinion to wait until the professional Planner is hired to evaluate the properties. Mr. Indellini represented the Trustees’s position for the rezoning the properties. After a lengthy discussion Mr. Indellini decided to withdraw the motion until a later date. UPDATE OF PLANNING CONSULTANT PROJECT Mr. Sykora announced that Kise, Straw & Koldner has been selected. The total for the firm was $89,830.00 after our Ad-Hoc meeting in January. We have a firm commitment from the Trustees, Municpal Services and the Mayor & Council for $30,000.00 apiece. The first meeting is on February 11th, for the steering committee to put together a ten-month agenda.
