The City of New Castle ’s Summer Recreation Program offers an opportunity for children to participate in a six week fun-filled morning program at Battery Park.  It is open to all children between the ages of 5 and 14 who reside within the City limits.  The program includes outdoor activities, field trips, and many planned events.  Call 322-7489 for additional information.

Program Dates: July 7th - August 15th

Hours and Locations

Park hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Program may run later on field trip days. Parks will be closed when it rains. Therefore, please pick up children as soon as possible if the rain starts after the park opens. The parks are not equipped with shelters.

Parents, please go over the following rules with your child before he/she begins the Summer Recreation Program.

• Children must follow all rules and regulations given by the counselors.

• Children must behave appropriately. The Recreation Supervisor will notify parents is there is a problem. If a problem persists, the child will lose recreational privileges. This includes field and swimming trips. Children must act in an orderly manner.

• When riding the bus to and from a trip, order will be maintained or that child's privilege to attend trips in the future may be taken away.

• Children should obey counselors and stay with them on all trips at all times.

• When swimming, children must follow the pool rules set by the Penn Acres Pool.

• Verbal abuse or inappropriate language by the children is not acceptable.

If you have any problems with specific parks, personnel or personnel actions, please contact the City Managment Team to voice any comments or concerns.
