The Municipal Services Commission is owned by the people of New Castle and as such it is a public utility operated for their benefit. The mission of the Municipal Services Commission is to provide superior water and electric service and reliability to its customers at competitive rates. The Municipal Services Commission's mission includes reinvestment of its assets to improve the quality of life in New Castle by providing city government with financial support and by participation in community projects with the donation of labor, materials and equipment. The Commission considers part of its mission to be the promotion and support of public safety by providing and maintaining public street lighting and community fire protection. The Commission believes its mission includes support of civic organizations and their activities by providing free water and electric service. The future mission of the Commission will be to identify other services such as wired and wireless telecommunications which can be provided to customers at a great savings.
